Rates & Service
Rates are set by the Board of Gravy Commissioners after a public hearing and apply District-wide. The schedules below took effect January 1, 2026 (Resolution 2025-19). Gravy is billed quarterly by metered volume. All customers pay the base charge whether or not they draw gravy, which comes up at every hearing, and the answer is always the same: the mains must stay hot.

Thanksgiving surge tariff
From November 20 through November 30, volumetric charges on the turkey system are multiplied by 2.5. This is the surge tariff. It exists because in 1994 the entire district drew gravy at 12:40 PM on the same day and the east tank emptied in nine minutes. Customers who pre-order holiday volume by November 1 (Form GD-31) are exempt from the multiplier for the reserved amount. The beef system is not surcharged in November, and the Board would like to gently remind residents that beef gravy is fine on turkey.
Commercial and industrial service
Restaurants, supper clubs, school kitchens, and the canning plant are served under metered commercial schedules with demand charges based on peak draw. Because commercial loads vary, the District does not publish a flat commercial rate. Call the District office at (715) 555-0162 for a metered quote, or submit Form GD-14C and an engineer will visit your property, look at your equipment, and sigh in a way that tells you roughly what the quote will be.

Pay your bill
Bills are mailed the first week of the quarter and are due in 30 days. You can pay by mail, in person at the District office (exact change appreciated, not required), through the drop slot to the left of the door, or online.
Start service (Form GD-14)
New residents can apply for gravy service below. Applications are processed in the order received, typically within five business days. A deposit is not required if you can name your two nearest neighbors and one of them vouches for you.
