Subscribe to the Courant
Three articles a month are free, a number every household on this street reached by the 4th. Beyond that, quality journalism about this specific street costs money, and it is the best money you will spend on news about your own lawn.
Digital
$4 / month
- Unlimited articles on this website
- The Gnome Files archive, complete
- Breaking-news alerts, delivered by whichever Kensington is outside
- Full access to the corrections page, which you are in
Print + Digital
$9 / month
- Everything in Digital
- The Tuesday print edition, walked to your door by Kyle, weather permitting
- Commemorative editions (mailbox, eclipse, egg)
- Priority placement of your letters, subject to the editor disagreeing with them at equal length
Founding Reader
$250 / year
- Everything in Print + Digital
- Your name in the Founding Readers box each week
- One archival photograph of your house, taken respectfully, at a good angle
- Does not include favorable coverage. The Courant must be clear about this. It has come up.
Households outside Butternut Court may subscribe to Digital only. Print delivery ends at the mouth of the court; Kyle has been clear about his range. Institutional rates available for the school district, which has never asked.
The operation
Every subscription funds the same things it funded in 2011: paper, ink, one police scanner, and the standing archive of everything that has ever happened on Butternut Court, which fills a hall closet and is backed up to two locations, one of which is the other side of the closet. The Courant has never missed a Tuesday. It has come close twice, both times involving the printer, neither time involving the news, of which there is always more than eight houses should produce.
