September 12

An item in the September 8 edition described the vehicle that circled the court as a "gray sedan." It was a gray hatchback. The Courant regrets the error, which three readers reported within the hour, one by knocking.

September 10

The gnome timeline published September 8 gave the date of relocation No. 19 as October 12. Old Bert was discovered moved on the morning of October 13; the relocation is believed to have occurred October 12. The Courant stands by its reporting and has adjusted the wall chart.

September 3

A recipe accompanying the Labor Day coverage called for "one stick of butter, softened." Barb Schmidt's original card says two. The Courant apologizes to Mrs. Schmidt and to everyone who made the bars, which readers describe as "fine, but not hers."

August 30

The August 26 edition referred to the Trans' former residence at No. 1 as "the Tran house." The Trans moved in 2024. The current residents have asked to be identified as "the new people" until further notice, and the Courant will honor that, reluctantly, as it now has for two years.

August 24

A photo caption in the August 19 edition identified the dog on the Fenwick lawn as a labradoodle. It is a goldendoodle. The Courant regrets the error, as does, we are assured, the dog.

August 17

Mr. Mabry's column of August 12 stated that the streetlight has buzzed "since the Obama administration." The buzzing began in 2015, which is the Obama administration, but readers felt the phrasing made it sound longer. The record is precise: eleven years, four months.

August 10

An item on the honor box misstated the outstanding balance as $6.75. Following a recount conducted in front of a witness, the correct figure is $4.50, plus one Canadian quarter the Courant continues to accept in protest of no one in particular.

August 3

The Courant's live mailbox coverage of July 30 reported the old Kowalski mailbox leaning at "nearly fifteen degrees." Mr. Kowalski's own measurement, taken with a level and submitted in writing, was eleven degrees. The Courant accepts the correction and notes that eleven degrees is still a lot.

July 28

A headline in the July 22 edition read "SIMMONS BOY'S DRONE CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF." The Simmons boy's drone requires no clearance, and the Courant is not an aviation authority. The headline was, in the words of the editor, "too fun to cut," and she has been spoken to, by herself.

July 14

The Fourth of July commemorative edition listed the potluck start time as 12:00 noon. See this newspaper's subsequent investigation. The Courant no longer considers this an error on its part.

June 30

An earlier version of the June 24 corrections page corrected an item that was, on review, correct as published. The correction is withdrawn. This entry corrects the correction. The Courant is confident the matter is now closed.

June 19

The spring garden roundup stated that the Hendersons planted "marigolds." They were zinnias. The Courant regrets the error and thanks the four households who wrote in, the fifth who left a seed packet in the tip slot, and Mr. Henderson, who said nothing, which said everything.
