Estate purveyors of chewed gum
We sell used chewing gum. Each wad is photographed on black velvet, graded on our five-point scale, and sealed in an archival sleeve with a certificate that records the original flavor, how long it was chewed, who chewed it, and the surface it was recovered from. Nothing is washed.

The Second Chew scale
A wad spat two minutes ago and a wad lifted from under a cinema seat after twenty-six years are the same material at opposite ends of one scale. We grade on flavor remaining, firmness, and the condition of the tooth pattern, and we record the surface the wad was recovered from, because the surface is what dates it.
Reserve wads are chewed in front of one of our graders, who registers the bite pattern before the wad goes into the sleeve. Standard wads come off desks, benches, and bedposts and are recorded by surface rather than by person.
